SUBVERSIVER MAY 2019 – AGAINST ANY PRISON WHETHER WITH OR WITHOUT WALLS
MARCH 22, 2019 NOPRISONSOCIETY
International solidarity and complicity with the accused and imprisoned anarchists
This is to extend the proposal of an anarchist 1 May 2019 in Berlin to a whole month of solidarity. Whether with information events, discussions or direct attacks, lies in the tension and conflictuality of each individual and its relationships.
The story of everyday misery has many faces: people who are forced out of their homes because in capitalism the home is a commodity; People who become “illegals” because some fucking papers are invalid; bored, faces on the smartphone, which must work like half-dead of their work, in order to keep a precarious somehow afloat; or those behind the prison walls, because they did not abide by any state and capital rules. The existing society is based on borders and papers, on controls, surveillance and jail, on daily exploitation and alienation, on money, property and domination. With this daily misery everyone tries to deal somehow, whether through social dulling, dopamine distribution by computer or smartphone, through drugs, alcohol and “celebrations”, or by finding isolated loopholes to curb the misery a bit.
An anarchist proposal against daily misery and a society building an open-air prison is insurrection and social upheaval! The suggestion of self-organization, of direct attack and of individual and collective revolt is not one that refers to a reaction, but goes on the offensive and attacks the structures of power. When the 1st of May in Berlin is re-appropriated by anti-authoritarians and anarchists, we propose to extend this one day to a whole month. It is a suggestion to regain one’s dignity in direct attack, the dissemination of self-determined ideas or the accumulation of attacks.
The direct propaganda of a world without exploitation and oppression declares itself to be the enemy of all those who benefit from the rule and protect it. To the enemy of all rule and power, to cops in uniform or pseudo-police citizens, the court, the bank and the bosses, fascists in the streets and at the desk, against any policy and the reformist left. As an enemy of prison and deportation machinery and technological advances, it helps to develop society into a prison without walls.
The idea and longing of a society based on free agreement and self-determination without a state and hierarchical structures, transcends borders and walls. Nonetheless, and for that very reason, anarchists find themselves in the dock, on the run or in jail. And it is not uncommon for the state to try to defame those affected as terrorists in order to socially isolate them (and above all the urge to create a world far from capitalist logic).
Below is an incomplete list of current repression cases in Europe:
In Italy, the state (with a fascist as prime minister) is massively involved in several police operations against anarchists. Operation Panico arrests 3 anarchists in Florence.
In February, 14 people were arrested in Turin and Trento, accused of forming a subversive association, incitement to crime, and possession, production and transport of explosive devices to a public place.
Meanwhile, in Italy, the preliminary verdict was pronounced in the process of Operation “Scripta Manent”, the prosecutor demands a total of 204 years jail (from 6 to 30 years for the different defendants).
In Zurich, on January 29, an anarchist companion was arrested on the street and placed in custody. He is accused of: calling for crimes concerning the fight against new criminals, arson attacks on cars of the Swiss army, as well as on a police radio tower. Another companion is because of the latter and the police search for two years on the run.
In Basel, 18 people were prosecuted (15 of them convicted) in June 2016 for a wild demonstration in which there were several attacks, including: against the party headquarters of the racist SVP, a bank branch of UBS, various insurance companies and the criminal court, with approaching cops being pelted with stones and bottles.
Since April 2016, the anarchist Lisa is in jail (first in Germany and now in Spain), as her bank robbery in Aachen is accused.
Anarchist Thomas Meyer-Falk has been in jail since 1996 (currently in
